WHY HAVING MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION IN YOUR HOME IS A GOOD IDEA - BOISE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER
Picture this, if you will. You’re eight months pregnant with a toddler at your feet. You’re tired. You’re uncomfortable. Your ankles are swollen. But damn if you aren’t still so beautiful. You know it’s now or never to get some maternity shots taken, and take it from me, the youngest in a slew of four. By the time I was born, my mom had basically given up on documenting my birth/childhood. My baby book sits half empty, the space with baby’s first words let blank. I know, it’s super sad. And believe you me, I was on the fuss bus about that for years. Your kiddo will want these memories of their beginning, and you will too. So now I ask, where would you rather be more than anyplace in the whole wide world (remember you’re eight months with child)? I’m going to venture a guess and say, on your couch with trashy tv and an open container of Half Baked at your fingertips.
As if that isn’t reason enough to book your maternity session in the comfort of your own home, I will give you three more reasons why it’s a good idea.
MY 3 TOP REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE AN IN-HOME MATERNITY SHOOT
HOME IS WHERE LIFE HAPPENS
This is so obvious, but it’s also so true. Like they say, home is where the heart is. It’s where you make so many memories, from sitting down to dinner together, to your nighttime tuck-in routines, to teaching your babes how to ride a two-wheeler in the driveway. It’s also a place you might choose to leave one day for a different house, in a different town. Capturing these moments in your present will be a gift to you in the future. I really love looking at old photos from my childhood home. It always evokes the deep and beautiful memories of a time (so) long ago.
HOME IS WHERE YOU ARE THE MOST COMFY
Remember the trash tv and Half Baked ice cream? Well, an in-home maternity session is just about the equivalent of those things in the photo world. You will be in the space that is the most familiar to you, you don’t even have to leave the couch or your bed if you don’t wanna. You just might not feel like putting on a form fitting gown and traipsing through the flower laden meadow…and you know what, that’s okay. Having photos taken in your home will likely produce a more natural, relaxed, true to you vibe…because if you can’t be true to you in your home, where can you?
INTIMACY, INTIMACY, INTIMACY
I touched on this a little in number 2, but it’s worth diving into a little more. Your home is where you can let down your hair, it’s where you feel safe and loved. It’s where you can ugly cry with mascara running down your cheeks & where you can laugh so hard you snort root beer out your nose without feeling the least bit self-conscious. There is innate intimacy in your home, that is born from that lack of self-consciousness & that will come through in your photos. #worthit
