EEK! What is better than meeting up with an old friend and spending a couple of hours laughing? I’ll tell you! Meeting up with an old friend and her beautiful, charming, lovely family and having the honor of capturing their love and family dynamic through photography! This shoot was so special to me. Not only was I able to reconnect with my friend, I was reminded at how powerful photography can be at telling an authentic story. It was so much fun to look through the images and clearly see each of their personalties shine through, to see how much they love each other and also see how much fun they have together. A truly awesome family :)

It is always my goal to capture the authentic connection within a family. It’s what I would want out of a photo session with my loved ones. I want to be able to look back at pictures and FEEL that moment again. To remember that exact time period in our family history. Because of that, I’m not concerned about perfection. I want to deliver a gallery of beautiful moments rather than a gallery of stiffly posed images that evoke no emotion when you look at them.

When I was younger I would find myself wondering what it was like to be in somebody else’s family. Not because I wasn’t happy in mine but because I recognized just how different everyone’s family experience was. I grew up with three older brothers, so I wondered what is what like in the home down the street from me that had the opposite dynamic. Does anybody relate with this? Ha! Now, I get to live out this curiosity by taking photos of different families with all those different dynamics and it is a privilege that I don’t take lightly.
