COUPLES SESSION

Preparing for your Custom Couples Photo Shoot

Again, thank you so much for choosing me and trusting me to capture your memories! I am forever honored. It is always my number one goal to make you feel at ease and beautiful (or handsome) in front of my camera. Having your photos taken can feel awkward and it’s my job to help you feel anything but that. My photography style is considered lifestyle (you can find more info on what that means HERE ). I will be directing you the entire photoshoot but the end result won’t be super posed. I want to capture images that you connect with, that OOZE your unique love story.

Read on for what to expect at your session.

Time:.

Where we shoot will dictate what time we shoot. If we decide to shoot in your home, time will be flexible depending on lighting. That said, the best time for home shoots is generally in late morning. If we decide to shoot outdoors, I prefer to shoot in the morning or the evening for the most ideal lighting. I am a natural light photographer and rely on the location of the sun to capture beautiful images. Mid-day, the sun is often too harsh. If that is the only time that works for you, we will plan our location accordingly.

Length Of Session:

My sessions generally last about an hour.

What To Wear:

I absolutely want you to feel comfortable and at your best during your session, while also wearing and outfit that reflects who you are. The location we choose may impact your choices, so keep that in mind. I recommend you and your partner being coordinated but not matching. Take a look at this guide for tips on what to wear.

Props:

I don’t bring props to photoshoots, besides maybe a blanket for you to sit on. If you have something in mind, please let me know.

Please arrive and/or be ready to start on time:

Remember, your session is scheduled according to light.  It is important that we start on time.  Please plan for traffic or parking constraints.  It's best to arrive early.

I can’t wait to capture you! See you soon!

NEWBORN

What  To  Expect  From  Your  Newborn  Photo Session

I am so excited to capture your new addition! Your custom newborn session will take place in the comfort of your own home and it’s my job to make it as seamless and relaxed as possible. My photography style is Lifestyle, which mean no props or overly posed portraits, I want your images to reflect your life in this moment so you will have these fleeting moments captured for a lifetime.

Day Of The Session:

When I arrive I will walk around your home and scout out the best lit areas for your photo session. I am a natural light photographer, so lighting from windows is essential. I often use the couch, bed, and nursery for photos…sometimes even the floor :)

Please do not feel the need to clean your home before I arrive, I know your life is hectic right now and we can easily tidy up any area we want to use for photos.

Your Baby:

Your newborn is perfect just the way they are.  I don't try and make babies sleep or place them in unnatural poses.  I suggest you have your newborn in a simple onesie that is form fitting with no graphics or words.  This usually means you will need a preemie or newborn sized onesie. I will likely take it off and get some nude or near nude newborn photos as well.  Also, please gather a few favorite swaddle blankets for baby to be wrapped in. I recommend feeding the baby as much as he or she wants about fifteen minutes prior to my arrival. Newborn sessions can take some time, that is okay.   I do not do major posing or have any expectation on how the baby should behave (alert or asleep).  We let the baby guide the session.  What is important is that we capture this beautiful time in your life.

Siblings:

This is a time for big change for the siblings in the house.  I usually try and get sibling and family photos right at the start because the sibling usually lose interest in me quickly.  I have no major expectations for the siblings and will never force them into doing anything they aren't comfortable with.  It is best to prepare the sibling/s for the session by telling him or her that a friend is coming to visit and take some photos of your family.  It is always best not to surprise them.

Mom & Dad:

You are likely both thrilled and exhausted.  Perhaps experiencing the highest highs and some of the lowest lows.  Having a new baby is hard and wonderful all at the same time.  My job is not to make this time in your life look perfect, my job is to show you just how beautiful it is.  I want you to be relaxed and at ease when I am photographing your family.  You don't need to be anything but yourself.

Wardrobe:

I recommend neutral colors and comfort. What is most important is that you are comfortable.  I am happy to discuss wardrobe with you further if you would like.  Just let me know.

MATERNITY

Getting ready for your Maternity Session

Pregnancy is so many things. It is joyful, beautiful, and often hard, if we are being honest. You will never regret your decision to capture this time in your life as it goes by so fast.

Now that you have booked your maternity session you may have some questions. Hopefully this resource will help you feel at ease about your upcoming photo session.

As you have seen in my portfolio, my images are organic and natural, capturing who you are right now. I will never ask you to wear an uncomfortable gown or place you in uncomfortable positions. My goal is to capture the beauty that is your pregnant body and to also capture the connection between you and the little soul inside you. We will also celebrate these last moments as a family of two, three, or whatever size your family is right now. I think it is special to have memories of what your family looked like right before the baby arrives.

Location:

Together, we will select the best location for your session. Most women want to take advantage of one of the many outdoor locations Boise has to offer, however some prefer the intimacy of their home. It is up to you. We will nail down location 5-7 days prior to your session.

Who is included in the session:

Your maternity session is for you, your significant other and children, if this isn't your first pregnancy. Yes, fur babies are welcome too. If children will be included, please know that I am experienced with working with kiddos of all ages. It is okay if they are active or silly. Kids are going to be kids.

Wardrobe:

I want you to feel your best. I find that long dresses seem to be the most comfortable and allow for easy moving, however it is entirely up to you. I am happy to discuss this with you further if you would like. What is important is that you feel beautiful.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to capturing you during this very special time.

FAMILY SESSION

Preparing for your Family Photo Session

You’ve booked your shoot, now what?

Well, first off, let me just say, I am so excited to spend time with your family and capture moments that you will have forever. My goal, always, is to make this as fun and laid back as possible for you. I think preparing you and your family for what to expect is a great first step :)

Via email we will discuss location, exact session time, wardrobe and answer any questions you may have.

I believe that family photography should imitate life. Where you are as a family today, is different than where you will be one year from now. When you look at these photos, I want you to remember what it felt like during this unique moment in your families story. These moments matter. Capturing authentic images of your family is why I do this. While I will get those posed Christmas card worthy shots, my end goal is to deliver images that reflect the unique connection that exists within your unique family.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your session with me.

Time:.

Where we shoot will dictate what time we shoot. If we decide to shoot in your home, time will be flexible depending on lighting. That said, the best time for home shoots is generally in the morning. If we decide to shoot outdoors, I prefer to shoot in the morning or the evening for the most ideal lighting. If that is the only time that works for you, we will plan our location accordingly.

Length Of Session:

My sessions generally last about an hour.

Your Children:

Children are the moving target of photoshoots, and that’s okay. We will take some time getting to know one another. I will get those Christmas card images and then we will spend time moving and interacting so I can capture them being their normal selves. Don’t worry if your child seems to be more interested in playing than taking photos, images of them exploring and being, you know, a kid, often turn out to be family favorites. For the family shots, I usually direct the adults to simply be with the child, holding them, snuggling, tickling, and we go from there. I suggest making sure they have not had an overly full day preceding the shoot. Make sure you bring non-messy snacks and water, we can take breaks during the shoot if necessary...just know that I will probably continue shooting during those times. Before the shoot, let them know that a friend will be taking pictures of them. I find it’s best not to take them by  surprise. Click HERE to read a guide on how to best prepare your children for your shoot.

What To Wear:

You and your family should wear what you feel comfortable in and reflects who you are. The location we choose may impact your choices, so keep that in mind. I recommend your family being coordinated but not matching. Take a look at this guide for tips on what to wear.

Props:

I don’t bring props to photoshoots, besides maybe a blanket for you to sit on. If you have something in mind, please let me know.
